Christmas Glam – It’s Christmas!

It’s Christmas! Okay, it’s not Christmas everywhere, but where I am – the Asia Pacific region – it is, and I am so excited! It’s 7 am, and I’m writing this because I can’t sleep, because my leg is really painful (I have a minor knee injury and tonight/this morning is one of those worse ones, but I won’t get into it). Anyways, I’m up and I wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas! Everyone else is sleeping, so I thought I would get my laptop and cup of tea and wrap up Christmas Glam (no pun intended)! I’m sorry I missed a day, the 23rd, but the internet connection was really bad at one point and I just couldn’t get online, then I got busy doing other things and ended up not posting on that day. I still put up the post, just one day later, and then I didn’t have the time to post what I had planned for the 24th, because, honestly, I just wanted to spend some time with my family, and not spend the whole day writing blog posts! The only reason this post is going up is that I’m the only one up and have some time!

Merry ChristmasI hope you enjoyed my Christmas Glam series, as always, if you have any feedback, let me know in the comments below, or drop me an e-mail at I really appreciate all e-mails and comments! I will to back to usual posting in a few days, hopefully once a week, but we’ll see! And just for fun, and just because, here is a picture of our living room in my aunt’s house, in malaysia! If you can, send me a picture of your Christmas decorations!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and if you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you just enjoy the public holiday! Merry Christmas! Now stop reading this and go spend time with your family!

Merry Christmas! ♥

Christmas Glam – Christmas manicures

Hey everyone!

It’s 2 days until Christmas and I am so excited! In this post I am going to be combining two of my favourite things: nail art and Christmas! There are so many amazing manicures on Pinterest all year round, but especially during Christmas, and I love looking at them! I personally don’t really have the time or patience to do fancy nail art, but I still love looking at it, and I usually go for simpler manicures with Christmas colours! Here are some of my favourite Christmas manicures I’ve found

Christmas Manicures

I really love all of them, they all look so perfect and gorgeous, like I said, I don’t have the time or patience to do most of these, especially not those with snowflakes or holly, so I went for the simplest one, the one on the top left. My recreation of it is right next to it, I couldn’t find the same colours I used Miss Piggy’s Big Number and Happy Anniversary for the ring finger, both from OPI. I think that this manicure would be best for the beginning of december, it’s more winter-y than christmas-y, like all 6 on the left side, the 8 on the right are obviously very festive! I think my favourite is the black and white one with the bows, and the essie bottle. I think it’s so elegant and just christmas-y enough, with the bows, without being too “in your face”. Also, this one could be recreated with red and gold, or red and green instead of black, white and silver if you want it to be really festive!

Let me know what your favourite Christmas manicures are!

Christmas Glam – Christmas Day Outfit & Makeup Ideas

Hey everyone!

So today’s Christmas Glam post is going to be more fashion related: my Christmas outfit lookbook! Different people do Christmas differently, for some, it’s a casual day at home with their family, and others go out, visit friends and family, go to parties and so on, so I put together 2 different outfits: one comfy and casual for a casual day at home, and one more formal and dressy for a day out!

Christmas outfits

Casual & Comfy outfit

I really love this first outfit, it’s really comfortable and cosy, and just Christmas-y enough with the red and white, but not too much. The sweater top is from Mango, I really love the knit pattern and the design, the burgundy leggings are from Cotton on, I love that it’s red but not too bright, so that I can wear it without it being too “in your face”. This isn’t the warmest of outfits, so if you lived somewhere really cold, you may want to replace the leggings with something thicker, and bundle up a scarf around your neck.

For makeup, I went for a more neutral look. I used eyeshadow from Urban Decay’s Naked 2 palette: half baked on the lid, snakebite in the crease, and bootycall in the inner corner, I really love the gold, I think it adds the perfect festive touch. Then I lined my upper lash line with Urban Decay’s 24/7 glide on pencil liner in Perversion, and used Benefit’s They’re Real mascara. For blush, I used Berry Rich from Revlon, then the Stila lip glaze in Guava I really love the whole look, and I think it’s perfect for a cozy day at home with your family!

Festive & Classy outfit

I love this second outfit too, I love how classy it looks, without being too formal. I think it’s just festive enough, just enough red to not be too in your face, but still Christmas-y. I think the red bag and plaid red shoes really bring the whole outfit together. The white peplum top is from H&M, I really love the lace detailing at the top, and the black skinny jeans are from Abercrombie & Fitch. I love the black and white, but if you want to be a little more festive, you could replace the black jeans with burgundy skinny jeans or leggings, and I think it would look great!

For makeup, I kept the eyes relatively neutral and went for a bright red lip, which I love in the winter. A great thing with this type of look is that it could be done quite quickly, spending little time on the face and eye makeup since the focus will be the lips anyways, which I love. I did however spend a little more time on the eyes and went for a cat eye-ish look, the eyeshadows are all also from Urban Decay’s Naked 2 palette. I used Half Baked on the lid, Busted in the crease and Bootycall in the inner corner, then used the same Urban Decay pencil eyeliner and Benefit mascara. For the lips, I just used a red lipliner from Mac, in Redd and a bright red lipstick from Chanel, in n˚98, coromandel! This look is perfect for if you’re going out to see some friends or family, but not going to a full out party (where I would probably wear a dress)!

Let me know what you’ll be wearing on Christmas!

Christmas Glam – Stocking Stuffers Gift Guide

Hey everyone!

So I’ve done a Beauty Gift Guide and a General Gift Guide, which you should check out if you still need to find a few gifts for some people but are stuck for ideas, today’s post is also a gift guide: Stocking Stuffers. I’m saying it’s stocking stuffers, but these gifts don’t actually have to be given as such, they could just be small gifts under the tree or for secret santa.

Stocking Stuffers

Nail polish is great in a stocking, just one bottle, mini or full sized, is always appreciated by any beauty lover, and even more by nail polish addicts like me! I always get nail polish in my stocking and it’s often from a different brand than I usually use, like OPI or Ciaté which I really like because that way I’ve found really nice new brands and colours!

Next up, coffee capsules, I think that this is a somewhat unusual gift that would be appreciated. So many people have coffee machines that use coffee capsules, from brands like Keurig or Nespresso, and buying a box of capsules every week or so can add up to a lot, so what you could do, and what I’m doing, is buying a few boxes, taking out the capsules and putting them in a stocking. If they don’t all fit, put some in the stocking, then seal back the box with double sided tape and wrap it.

Third idea is a phone case, almost everyone has a smartphone these days, and has a phone case to go with it, but I think anyone would love an extra case, just to change it up once in a while, and the good thing is that there are so many different designs to choose from depending on the person’s taste, my personal favourite go-to brand is Typo

Another thing any girl would like is a lip balm. Like everything else pretty much, there are so many different ones out there, different scents, flavours, tints and so on!

Next, a bracelet or pair of earrings, not a super fancy piece of jewellery from Tiffany’s or anything, but a cute, inexpensive bracelet or pair of earrings is always nice!

And finally, candy is one of the best stocking stuffers! There are so many different types of candy at christmas, my personal favourite is chocolate, but there’s also candy canes and so much more!

I hope this helps, let me know what your top stocking stuffers are, if you want more, check out the stocking stuffer gift guide from last year!

Christmas Glam – Semolina Cookies Recipe

Hey everyone!

So baking is, along with gift giving and decorating, one of my favourite parts of Christmas, there are so many fun things to make that taste so good! Last week I shared a S’mores Hot Chocolate recipe, and today I’m going to share one of my favourite cookie recipes: almond semolina cookies, or sugee cookies. I got this recipe from my aunt and I love these cookies so much. They aren’t exactly Christmas cookies, but we only make them at Christmas time, so to me, they count as Christmas cookies! They’re a nice sweet treat, and go well with hot chocolate, I like making them really small (about 2cm in diameter), all or the ingredients are dry (except for the butter and vanilla essence), so the cookies are dry and flakey, in the best way! Here is the recipe!

What you need:

  • 200g butter
  • 100g cast0r sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 200g plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 60g ground almonds
  • 60g semolina flour

What to do:

  1. Sift the flour baking powder, almonds and semolina
  2.  Cream butter & castor sugar together with vanilla essence until light and creamy
  3. Beat in sifted dry ingredients
  4. Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes
  5. Preheat oven at 165˚C
  6. Shape into cherry-sized balls and place on baking sheets (watch out, they expand a lot!), using a fork, mark the centre of each cookie
  7. Bake for 15 minutes or until light golden/brown underneath
  8. While still warm, sprinkle with castor sugar

And that’s it, it’s a really easy recipe, the most tedious part is shaping the dough into balls to put onto the baking tray, it takes a while to get the right size, but once you get the hang of it, it’s not too hard!

I hope you enjoy these cookies, let me know what your favourite Christmas cookies are!

Christmas Glam – Perfect Gift Wrapping

Hey everyone!

So as I’ve said several times, gift giving is one of my favourite parts of Christmas, I love picking out gifts for people and seeing how happy the gift makes them, but my favourite part of presents is probably wrapping them. I’m always on the lookout for cute wrapping ideas, and every year, I spend hours going through Pinterest looking for inspiration, and his year was no different! I love the wrapping I did last year (here is a post on it), this year I looked for different ideas and tips to make them look perfect. If you’re looking for some wrapping inspiration, I recommend reading both this post and last year’s because they both have useful tips!

What you need:

  • Wrapping paper
  • Scissors
  • Double Sided Tape
  • Ribbon
  • Paper for labels
  • Pens
  • Gift boxes
  • Bells & other trinkets
  • Hole punch

Gift Wrapping - What You Need

Tips & Ideas

I’m assuming everyone knows the basics when it comes to wrapping, like how to wrap a cube gift or tie a simple bow, I wanted to share a few unique wrapping ideas and tricks!

  • Use Double sided tape, the tape not being visible just makes the whole gift look more professional
  • Make your own labels, find cute Christmas paper and cut it out in different shapes like a Christmas hat, Christmas baubles, Christmas tree or the traditional labels
  • Make pretty bows, instead of the usual simple bow, look for some different, more original ones! Something I like is layering ribbons of the same colour but different shades or patterns and tying them together in a simple bow
  • Tie little festive trinkets, like bells onto the ribbon to make it look more fancy and cute
  • If you’re having trouble wrapping something, use a gift box
  • Use plain wrapping paper – without any designs – and “accessorise” it yourself! Use a really fancy bow, stick a picture on it, cut out a snowflake and tie it on with a ribbon, slip a candy can in with the bow… Pinterest has some really cute ideas, some of my favourites are on my Christmas board

I hope this post helped you with your Christmas wrapping, let me know if you have any other tips and ideas!

Christmas Glam – General Gift Guide

Hey everyone!

So yesterday I posted a beauty gift guide with a bunch of ideas for the beauty lovers in your life, but obviously, those gift ideas wouldn’t suit everyone on your list so here are a few non beauty related present ideas for different types of people!

General Gift Guide1- So my first suggestion is a tea set, not the actual tea, but the dining set. This would be great for anyone who likes to make cookies or cupcakes and serving really nice tea! I will probably be getting a set of tea cups, plates, and a 3-tier platter/serving thing for my aunt, because I know she would really like that. A great thing with this type of gift is that there are so many different designs, you can have fun looking for one the person would really like!

2- Next up and on the same theme is cooking tools, within this category there are so many different options at a range of prices, from a set of cute measuring spoons to a brand new Kitchen Aid. I love baking so I would love to receive anything baking related: a new recipe book, measuring spoons, a gift card to a cake decoration store and so on. My dad loves to cook, and he doesn’t have an apron and I know he would like that, my aunt recently bought a new Kitchen Aid, because the one she had before was broken, but it makes a great gift if you’re feeling very generous. One year I received a set of decorations for cupcakes and I really loved that, so those are some options for those who love to cook!

3- A really easy gift for someone you don’t really know, for a secret santa for example, is an iTunes gift card, these are really great because they will almost definitely be used since iTunes has music, games and movies, which, who doesn’t love to get at least one of those for free! And the fact that it’s a gift card makes the price completely flexible to fit any budget

4- One gift I loved receiving when I was younger was board games, so if you’re looking for a gift for someone younger, they’re always a great option. Some of my favourites are Monopoly, Taboo and Uno, those are the only ones I can think of right now but there are so many others, and there are also some great ones for teens, Cards Against Humanity is a great one, my sister got it and it’s so much fun!

5- And finally, a DIY gift idea: a scrapbook. This is great if you want to and have the time to make something. I have a lot of fun picking out pictures, and papers and then putting it all together. A great thing about scrapbooks is that you can make them for a sibling, a parent, a friend… it just really depends on what you write and what pictures you pick!

I hope this gift guide helped, check out my general gift guide or beauty gift guide from last year for more suggestions!

Let me know if you have any gift ideas!
